Good question. I would imagine it would depend a lot on the brand and age of the machine and how much labor it would take to switch it out. That is something only a repair place would know, and I am sure that you could call and get a price quote. My opinion would be that by the time you buy this part and have it installed—-you will be close to investing the price of a brand-new machine. The other issue with replacing one part—-is how long will it be before something else goes wrong and will the same part go bad again. If you live in a home and have a warranty that includes your machine—-you might check with them to see what if anything they might do.
