Both are excellent and are the two brands I do all of my builds with. Gigabyte dominates my builds, mainly because of their Ultra Durable construction and general reliability. Of my last 10 builds, 7 are Gigabyte, two are Asus and one is ASRock.
That said, my primary workstation is an Asus build. Mainly due to their feature set and reviews. I was after dual M.2 socket support and wasn’t getting that in Gigabyte on the platform I was building around. So I went with Asus and have been very happy with it.
Better is subjective. If the board has the features you’re looking for, it is better. My most recent build was a Gigabyte board, but it was selected for form factor first and features second. Not a lot of Mini-ITX boards that supported what I was after, and Asus didn’t have one in that arena. So Gigabyte won by default.
